S2 - PUPPETRY 101
Monday/Wednesday, 1:00-2:30
8th – 12th Grade
Instructors - Liz Jeffery & Kyle Mahoney
Students can expect to learn the basics of puppetry.
Week 1: Basic Hand Puppetry
Muppet Style Puppetry, students will be learning eye focus, lip synch, and voice/ character work.
Week 2: Found Object Puppetry
Students will learn to create their own puppets with objects found around the house.
Week 3: Monologue Work/Performances
Students will choose a style of puppetry, Basic Hand or Found Object, to perform a short monologue/song for the last day of the session.
Kyle Mahoney has been a puppeteer since 2016 working with various theaters like Long Island Children’s Museum, Eastline Theater, and Sesame Place. Kyle was Rod and the Puppet Captain in CAP’s production of Avenue Q.
Liz Jeffery has been performing at Long Island Children’s Museum since 2014. Privately teaching voice and piano since 2013. She played Kate Monster and was the Assistant to the Puppet Captain in CAP’s production of Avenue Q.
