Summertime at the CAP Center for kids!

Hey families, on behalf of camp directors Tony Frangipane and Jon Riss, I wanted to take a moment to encourage you to consider enrolling your child in our summer camp. There are two three week sessions and one two week session with spots still open in all three.  The kids have an amazing experience and incredible fun. While there is voice and dance and improv and acting workshops every day, with rehearsals after lunch for a large production every session, Tony and Jon also blend in real camp activities like arts and crafts and games and other activities. It feels like camp but at the same time the kids are growing and learning and improving at our air conditioned theater!  The counselors are knowledgeable and loving and talented , Jojo Minasi, Mellisa Kleiman and my favorite, Brooke Grossman. (Not that I am biased!).
Don't hesitate to call Tony at the theater at 516-694-3330 for more information. Camp hours are 9-4 with before and after care available.
It is one of the cap programs that I am most proud of!
Regards Bruce

Rent is coming to the CAP Center

Opening June 20th the musical RENT

Based loosely on Puccini's La Boheme, Jonathan Larson's RENT follows a year in the life of a group of impoverished young artists and musicians struggling to survive and create in New York's Lower East Side, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. The physical and emotional complications of the disease pervade the lives of Roger, Mimi, Tom, and Angel. Maureen deals with her chronic infidelity through performance art; her partner, Joanne, wonders if their relationship is worth the trouble. Benny has sold out his Bohemian ideals in exchange for a hefty income and is on the outs with his former friends. Mark, an aspiring filmmaker, feels like an outsider to life in general. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread to this groundbreaking musical.
